Resistance Theater’s first production was an updated reprise of “An American Pageant…,” presented on Monday, January 19, 2026, the official holiday for the celebration of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  This special performance, in the classic theater of Seattle Theater Group’s Kerry Hall (the original home of the Cornish School of the Arts), was a benefit for several groups on the front lines of the resistance to Donald Trump and his MAGA Movement.

As part of this fundraising effort, we were joined by the "Raging Grannies," a nationally known, Seattle-based protest singing group composed of, yes, grandmothers in their 70s and 80s.  For over 20 years the Raging Grannies have been giving concerts and showing up to protest at public meetings and corporate gatherings.  For more about the Raging Grannies, visit their website here.

Common Power - Common Power works to foster, support, and amplify a democracy that is just and inclusive.

Northwest African American Museum - Since opening our doors in 2008, the Northwest African American Museum has evolved into a cultural home where art, learning, and community thrive.

We had a close-to-capacity crowd, and as a result of their donations we were able to contribute  several thousand dollars each to Common Power and the Museum.  We also had a very successful livestream, and our livestream audience, through the power of the QR code, donated substantial additional monies.

A recording of our livestream has been posted elsewhere on our website, and the QR codes remain active, so viewers of the recording can also donate to support the work of Common Power and the Museum.

Watch here for announcements on future resistance productions!
